Heartwarming Mother’s Day Film Event for Wuhan-Taiwanese Youth Hosted by Wushang Dream Plaza
With mother’s love nourishing the heart, shared blood binds us together. On May 10, Mother’s Day, under the guidance of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the Wuhan Municipal People’s Government, Wushang Dream Plaza and the Wuhan Taiwanese Enterprises Association jointly hosted the “Listen to Mom’s Words” film screening event for Wuhan-Taiwanese youth at the Wushang Mall International Cinema. Nearly 300 young people from both sides of the Strait came together, using film as a medium and familial affection as a bridge to express gratitude for mother’s care, foster patriotism, and celebrate the deep bonds of cross-Strait kinship. Anchored in the Chinese tradition of filial piety, the event provided a platform for heartfelt exchanges, nurturing mutual understanding, and strengthening emotional connections.

The event venue was filled with warmth and sincerity. Mr. Huang Jen, a member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang and a prominent elder of Taiwan’s indigenous communities, specially extended his blessings for the occasion. He entrusted his kinsman, renowned Taiwanese indigenous singer Zhang Xin-Jie (Mark Chang), to attend the event and convey the shared hope that people on both sides of the Strait remain united in heart and connected by blood. Through the bond of familial affection, the gesture honored mothers everywhere and expressed a collective wish for family and national reunification.
During the opening segment, classic songs of gratitude were performed in succession, allowing youth from both sides of the Strait to express their heartfelt sentiments through music. Commissioned by Mr. Huang, Zhang Xin-Jie delivered moving renditions of two classic songs, Any Empty Wine Bottles for Sale and Rainbow, conveying care and blessings through heartfelt melodies. The Wuhan Guangmang Choir performed Returning Sails, its gentle tune reflecting the sincere hope of cross-Strait compatriots for mutual support and reunion. Applause resonated throughout the venue, creating an atmosphere overflowing with warmth and affection.

In his speech, a representative from the Wuhan Taiwanese Enterprises Association emphasized that Wuhan has always been a welcoming home for Taiwanese youth to pursue their dreams and establish roots. By centering on the most resonant theme of familial affection, the event aimed to bridge the hearts of youth from both sides, encouraging frequent exchanges, mutual understanding and affinity, and the use of youthful energy to support cross-Strait integrated development. Representatives of partnering brands also pledged their continued support for youth exchanges, promoting cultural cohesion and unity across the Strait.
At the event, youth from both sides of the Strait watched a heartwarming film together, discovering the preciousness of familial love and the profound significance of national heritage through a moving story. Through relaxed interactions, they strengthened bonds as compatriots and fostered a shared sense of national identity.
This event elevated children’s gratitude for their mothers into sincere devotion to the motherland. It not only carried forward the Chinese tradition of filial piety but also brought youth from both sides of the Strait closer together emotionally, infusing warm and steadfast youthful energy into deepening Wuhan-Taiwanese exchanges and promoting the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
