Recently, Haiji, a Chinese smart robot R&D company from jiangyin China, successfully tested its latest AI-powered beach robot. This is the world’s first smart beach robot, featuring AI visual recognition as its core technology, integrating multiple new technologies, and equipped with an electric chassis. It combines functions such as garbage cleaning, water quality monitoring, and ecological risk early warning, representing the latest solution for protecting beaches in the AI era.

The robot, named Haiji (the pinyin for Haiji), boasts AI visual recognition as its core feature. It can walk autonomously, automatically identify and plan its path, and automatically avoid obstacles and crowds. It can be viewed and controlled via a mobile cloud platform. Its unique four-corner wheel track and flexible sand-sifting structure design ensure maximum protection of the original beach topography during movement, without damaging the beach surface environment or disturbing coastal flora and fauna. Powered by a large-capacity lithium battery and auxiliary solar panels, it supports continuous pure electric operation in all weather conditions and rain, with zero emissions and extremely low noise.
Haiji is known for its ability to accurately identify small debris, including cigarette butts, small pieces of trash, and microplastic particles in the sand. It boasts a cleaning capacity of up to 4,500 square meters per hour, equivalent to 10 basketball courts, and is equipped with a 400-kilogram large-capacity trash bin, far exceeding the capacity of traditional cleaning equipment. Its climbing ability is also remarkable; in on-site testing, it easily traversed a 40-degree slope and can even operate in shallow water. It also features an emergency braking device and LED warning lights to ensure safe handling in emergencies.

Chu Lui, CEO of Haiji Intelligent Robotics Co, stated that Haiji’s upgrade to an integrated smart beach maintenance terminal integrates unmanned trash cleaning, AI visual recognition, and multi-dimensional ecological monitoring. The development of this device took several years and benefited from collaboration between multiple companies from mainland China and Taiwan. Compared to traditional methods like manual litter removal involving large-scale trampling and heavy machinery that forcefully compacts the sand, these AI-powered smart beach robots, capable of autonomous operation, better preserve the original beach environment, maintain beach cleanliness and beauty, improve the beach tourism experience, and protect coastal biodiversity and the environment. They are poised to replace traditional cleaning equipment and become the mainstream smart solution for beach environmental protection worldwide.
