This March, the city’s rapidly expanding music ecosystem will take a historic step onto the national stage as Detroit earns its first-ever Official Artist Showcase at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Music Conference in Austin, Texas. The moment represents more than a concert; it signals national recognition of Detroit’s re-established hip-hop and music economy — a movement powered by independent artists, grassroots infrastructure, and a culture built on authenticity and ownership.
