The pair, a staple in the NYC comedy scene for nearly 20 years, will offer stand up comedy classes, plus workshops on producing shows and promotion.
NEW YORK – Ry Daddy, one of the longest independently run pop-up comedy productions in NYC featuring touring headliners and fresh up-and-comers, has launched a brand new, multi-package stand up comedy class, spanning workshops to craft the perfect set and build stage presence, to lectures on promotion, show running, and other production aspects, alongside longtime comedian Chris Murphy.
“For over 15 years, I’ve worked with top clubs and venues around the country producing comedy shows,” says Ryan Dacalos, President of RyDaddy LLC. “This new workshop creates opportunities for new comedians to get in front of the right people and learn from pros,while making connections that could otherwise take years.”
The classes include:
- “Intro to Comedy” with Chris Murphy: five weeks of peer and instructor feedback classes for beginners to intermediate performers, providing a step-by-step program to develop material and polish stage presence.
- “Workshop on Stand-up & Comedy Show Production” with Ryan Dacalos: five weeks of work directly with Ryan Dacalos, booker of the Ry Daddy shows, to sharpen material, punch up jokes, AND get insider guidance on how to promote, produce, and book shows.
“I’ve spent years performing around the country, working with major names and understanding various types of crowds that exist,” says Chris Murphy. “These classes help fill in the blanks that many young performers face – like stage presence, how to stand, navigating different jokes or hecklers, and more to ensure you’re prepared for a club show performance.” Chris Murphy has been featured on Amazon Prime, Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, and more.
