ZOLFO SPRINGS, Fla. – The Florida Pioneer Festival: Homesteading in the Heartland will be held November 7–8, 2025, at Pioneer Park in Zolfo Springs, Florida. This two-day celebration of heritage skills, sustainable living, and community connection brings together homesteaders, families, farmers, artisans, educators, and curious learners for a weekend of education, entertainment, and old-fashioned fun.
At its core, the festival is about preserving the past while inspiring the future. Visitors can explore dozens of workshops and live demonstrations showcasing pioneer and homesteading skills such as canning, dairy goats and sheep, beekeeping, bread baking, soap and candle making, gardening, permaculture, food forestry, meat rabbits, blacksmithing, and fiber arts. Programs suit every experience level, offering takeaways for both beginners and seasoned homesteaders.
Keynote Speaker: Joel Salatin
The festival proudly welcomes Joel Salatin, world-renowned farmer, author, and regenerative agriculture advocate, as keynote speaker. Known as “America’s Most Famous Farmer,” Salatin will lead multiple daily sessions blending humor, practical wisdom, and a visionary approach to farming and food freedom. His talks will inspire audiences to embrace self-reliance, sustainability, and community resilience.
Music, Market, and Family Fun
Entertainment rounds out the weekend. On Friday evening, Southern Express Bluegrass performs a free concert at 6:00 PM, included with gate admission. On Saturday night, rising country star Alex Key headlines at 6:30 PM, included with Weekend Education Passes or available separately.
Guests can shop the Mercantile Market, featuring homesteading supplies, handcrafted goods, and artisan products, and enjoy the Food Court with local food trucks serving farm-fresh meals, baked goods, specialty coffee, and more. Families will enjoy the Children’s Activity Zone, with pioneer crafts, heritage games, and farm animal encounters.
