Sizzling barbecue and freshly prepared local delicacies offer visitors an immediate and irresistible sensory appeal. Skewers of grilled meat turning over the flames and tables filled with diners not only heat up the night but also drive continuous growth in consumption. Merchant Zhang Zhengyang told reporters, “We didn’t expect such huge crowds right after setting up in the Wudi Ancient City night market. We’ve been busy from morning till night, and our revenue has exceeded expectations. This gives us great confidence to keep operating here.”
Music performances and dance shows take turns on stage, where dynamic rhythms blend with the tranquility of the ancient city, creating a unique nighttime experience. Visitors stop to watch or raise their phones to capture the lively and memorable moments. “It feels incredibly vibrant. You can enjoy so much delicious food and watch performances at the same time. The atmosphere of the entire ancient city is wonderful—it’s even more special at night than during the day,” said tourist Yang Lu.
From “sightseeing” to “immersion,” and from “check-ins” to “deep experiences,” Wudi Ancient City is embracing an integrated model of “night economy + cultural tourism,” allowing traditional culture and modern consumption to resonate together while continuously releasing the vitality of the nighttime economy.
“We will continue to enrich our offerings by introducing more specialty dining options and cultural performances, while also planning themed events around holidays. Our goal is to promote the normalization and quality development of the nighttime economy, and truly transform the ancient city into a cultural tourism destination where there are highlights during the day, attractions at night, and reasons to stay all day long,” said Yuan Shuai, head of the Wudi Ancient City Visitor Service Center.
