MUMBAI, India – EmpowHER India successfully conducted a block-level workshop in Karjat to reinforce the importance of life skills education under its flagship SETU program.
The workshop reinforced the role of life skills education as an integral part of adolescent development and underlined EmpowHER India’s commitment to making every child school-ready, work-ready, and life-ready.
The Karjat block-level workshop brought together education officials, school principals, and teachers to highlight the role of life skills in adolescent development. Chief guest Mr. Anant Khaire, Block Education Officer, joined by resource person Mr. Pradeep Surve, was present alongside EmpowHER India CEO Anamara Baig and core team members.
Teachers and principals from 13 schools running SETU life skills sessions participated, along with last year’s award-winning schools and educators. They shared reflections on the program’s impact, noting how it equips students with vital skills such as communication, decision-making, problem-solving, and hygiene awareness, preparing them for life beyond the classroom.
Mr Ghule, Principal of Zilla Parishad School, Mangaon Varedi, awarded as Best Principal, shared, “The SETU life skills sessions are highly valuable for students. Skills such as effective communication and understanding sensitive issues, including menstrual health, are crucial for daily life. The Foundation’s trainers deliver these topics in a manner that students can easily comprehend, which is essential for their holistic growth.”
Dipti Hajari, Senior Operations Manager at empowHER India, said, “Our block-level workshops connect directly with schools, explaining what we do, why we do it, and how teachers can support. It keeps them in the loop and helps empower adolescents—schools are key decision-makers in their lives.”
Rupesh Pawar, SETU Program Head at empowHER India, added, “These block-level workshops introduce new schools and let experienced ones share insights. Last year, the parents of an Urdu school were hesitant at first, but as the sessions progressed, their mindset changed. Now, parents trust the program and encourage students and teachers to engage, helping adolescents develop essential life skills fully.”
The workshop reaffirmed EmpowHER India’s commitment to integrating life skills education as a key component of adolescent development and ensuring that children are school-ready, work-ready, and life-ready.
