TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa, OK — A new nonprofit, the Empowered Hearts Foundation, has officially launched with a mission rooted in compassion: to provide financial relief and emotional support to families whose children are facing life-altering medical challenges.
When a child becomes critically ill, families often find themselves overwhelmed not only by fear and uncertainty but also by staggering financial realities. Even with insurance, out-of-pocket expenses for hospital stays, ongoing treatments, and long-term care can reach thousands of dollars per visit. For complex conditions, lifetime medical costs may climb into the millions, forcing parents to cut work hours—or leave jobs entirely—just to care for their child. The resulting financial strain can push families into debt, food insecurity, and housing instability at the very moment they need stability most.
The Empowered Hearts Foundation exists to step into that gap. Through donor support and targeted fundraising, the organization provides direct financial assistance that allows families to focus on what matters most: their child’s health, hope, and healing.
The organization was founded by Nathan R Mitchell, MBA, a leadership expert who has spent nearly 25 years helping people unlock their potential in corporate, educational, and entrepreneurial settings. Mitchell’s passion for empowering others led him to expand his mission beyond business and into the homes of families facing medical crisis.
