The local, family-owned plumbing and HVAC company is rolling out a practical plan to help residents identify hidden leaks, upgrade to water-efficient fixtures, and adopt everyday habits that collectively save thousands of gallons of water each year.

SANTA FE, N.M. – July 1, 2025 – As drought conditions continue to challenge New Mexico’s communities, Salazar Heating, Cooling & Plumbing has announced a new Water Conservation Initiative aimed at helping Santa Fe homeowners reduce residential water waste and lower their utility bills.

The local, family-owned plumbing and HVAC company is rolling out a practical plan to help residents identify hidden leaks, upgrade to water-efficient fixtures, and adopt everyday habits that collectively save thousands of gallons of water each year.

“Water is one of New Mexico’s most precious resources,” said owner of Salazar Heating, Cooling & Plumbing. “We live and work here too, so it’s our responsibility to help families protect their homes while doing our part to conserve water for the entire community.”

A Plan for Practical Savings

The Water Conservation Initiative will include:

  • Low-flow upgrade options: Consultations for replacing faucets, old toilets, and showerheads with high-efficiency models that save water and money.
  • Expert advice: In-home plumbing inspections to identify leaks, hidden drips, and outdated fixtures that drive up water bills.

A Local Response to a Local Challenge

According to the New Mexico Office of the State Engineer, the average household wastes up to 10,000 gallons of water each year due to leaks alone — enough to wash nearly 300 loads of laundry.

Salazar Heating, Cooling & Plumbing’s goal is to help local homeowners collectively save over 1 million gallons of water this year through practical upgrades and routine maintenance.

Trusted Experts for Santa Fe

Serving Santa Fe for over a decade, Salazar Heating, Cooling & Plumbing has earned a reputation for expert plumbing service, honest advice, and a commitment to the community’s future.

“Reducing water waste doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive,” added Salazar. “Small changes make a big difference when an entire city gets involved.”
